Salt Lily Magazine was born out of tender vision: to nurture a celebratory and intimate online and print space for SLC's art and music community. By showcasing this City's vibrant artistic diversity, we hope to invite others to participate in their own artistic potential. This magazine is a love letter to all the feral outcasts of SLC.

Au Clair de la Lune

Au Clair de la Lune

It was a beautiful spring night

The air was cool

A gentle breeze carried the crisp scent de floraison

Caressing my dark chocolate skin

The moon was shining in all her glory

But a small billow of cloud covered her

She didn’t shine as bright anymore

Soon enough it vanished and there she was again

Bright as ever

Pleasant to the eye and beautiful to the soul

Another billow of cloud covered her

This one was bigger

Bit by bit it swallowed her

She shined lesser and lesser

Suddenly I felt your arms around me

Your chest against my back

So tight I could feel your heart pound

I turned to look at you

Your eyes were brighter than the moon

Shinier than the stars

Every second spend staring in your eyes felt like a step deeper into your soul

Hours passed and we seemed to enjoy the journey in each other’s soul

The billow of cloud vanished in the dark of the night

She recovered her beauty

Together we watched her travel across the skies

Until I fell asleep and it all went dark

In the morning I woke up to the birds singing

And the rayon de soleil piercing through the blinds

I looked by my side and you weren’t there

But that’s fine

I will see you again tonight
